We were called out to a home in Madeira to replace a driveway and steps that had seen better days. The concrete was badly cracked, with weeds and mud settling into the separation points, and the existing retaining wall had loose stones that weren’t doing much to hold back the landscape beds.

Before we excavated the existing concrete, we scoped the sewer line. Good thing we did! It runs right under the driveway, and it was in really bad shape. We replaced the sewer line first, then poured the new concrete on top of it. The homeowner is now set for many years without having to tear up brand new concrete to deal with a failing pipe down the road.
From there, we tore everything out and started fresh. We built new retaining walls on both sides using 30 skids of Geogrid block, which lock together and tie back into the hillside so the landscape beds actually stay put. Then we poured a new driveway, steps, stoop, and sidewalks up to the front entrance.

The finished product is a clean, solid front approach that ties the whole entry together. No more cracked concrete, no more crumbling stone walls, no more weeds.
